I am attempting to maintain a blog filled with random bits from my life and family as well as my adventures in crafting.

Three's A Bling!

This week over at Die Cuttin Diva's they have challenged us to create a Birthday card using three embellishments; My Creative Time has issued the challenge to "Bling It Up"; and of course the sketch is from Mojo Monday (LOVE this sketch!).  So this is what I came up with.  I used George for the circles and Celebrations for the gift cut.  The flowers and bling are from Michael's.  All the paper comes from the We R Memory Keepers 6x6 Anthologie pack (LOVE it!).  Thanks for stoppin' by!

Happy 4th of July!

I can't believe that the 4th of July is just around the corner!  I love the 4th, I'm a bit of a pyro, so fireworks are so much fun for me!  Plus the year is half over, it's crazy!  Anyway, there are a couple challenges I am entering this patriotic card into.  I absolutely love the sketch over at Mojo Monday, and I am sure I will be using it for a few more cards.  And Paper Playtime has a Red, White, and Blue challenge.  I only used my Cricut for the stars (George), the rest is just fun patterned paper.  Hope everyone has a fun and safe 4th!

Frame It! FCCB Challenge #166

Yeah for another fun week of challenges! And over at FCCB we are challenging you to Frame It!  I was excited for this challenge because I have never used a frame on a card!  And as I was trying to figure out if my mat should or should not show from outside under the frame, I thought, there is no right or wrong when you are creating - you can just do whatever!  I decided to leave the mat and just round the corners.  I used Elegant Edges for the frame and I used Serenade for my bird.  I recently added Serenade to my library of cartridges and I really love the flourish on this cart.  I added some bling to the frame and stamped a small sentiment "thinking of you".  The patterned paper is from a 6x6 paper pack from ColorBok (Wal-Mart).  I hope you join us this week over at FCCB!!!

So Happy For You ... FCCB Challenge #165 Wedding Days

Come on over to FCCB this week and play along with another great challenge!  It's all about Wedding Days!  Have I mentioned that we have a bunch of weddings this month?  2 down, 2 to go and this card is for the 3rd wedding we will be attending.  Anyway, I used Birthday Bash for the scallop circle shape card and mats. I used Sweethearts for the wedding couple and ran the dress and veil through the Cuttlebug Divine Swirls folder. The veil was made just by cutting out the hair in white and layering it. The couple is popped up using two thicknesses of foam tape. The patterned paper comes from My Mind's Eye 6x6 Lost and Found Madison Avenue pack. The sentiment is from the CardzTV Happy Days stamp set. I hope the happy couple will like this card!

A Pie of Thanks!

Last month for my birthday, my dear neighbor and friend made me a Strawberry-Rhubarb pie.  It was the most beautiful pie I had ever seen, I almost didn't want to eat it...almost is the key word...I pretty much ate the whole thing over the course of 3 days.  It was delicious!  No one else in my family wanted any, which was fine by me, but not my waist.  Oh well!  Anyway, I wanted to make her a card to say thanks and when I saw the challenge over at BBTB2 "From The Kitchen" I knew it was the perfect opportunity to use a pie image.  This pie is from the Country Life cartridge, there is usually a rolling pin attached to this, but I cut it off for my card.  Mojo Monday's sketch for the week also served me perfectly as the inspiration for this layout.  Paper Playtime's challenge is Anything Goes, so I will be entering this there too.  The patterned paper is from DCWV Nana's Kitchen, ColorBoK 6x6 Natural Expression pack, and Echo Park 6x6 Charming pack.  I used Spellbinder's Classic Bracket for the top and bottom border.  Of course, foam tape is popping up the mats, the image, and the flag.  I'm thrilled with how this turned out and can't wait to send it to her.

Happy Father's Day FCCB Challenge #164

This week over at FCCB, we are honoring our father's with a fun challenge.  I wanted to try a different style of card for this challenge and I watched a bunch of videos on YouTube and decided on the side step.  I thought it would be fun to use this cute bear golfer and set the green in the back.  Both of these cuts are from Create-A-Critter 2.  The "rough" is cut from Plantin Schoolbook.  My dad is not a golfer, nor my husband so I don't know exactly why I made this other than that it is a pretty cute card.  Hope you will join us this week with our challenge!!!

Celebrate A Happy Birthday!

Here is a card I made up for a sketch challenge over at My Creative Time.  I used Playtime for the cute little boy and Something to Celebrate for the balloons.  I did use the Flip option for the balloons.  The paper is from DCWV Birthday Wishes 6x6 stack.  I still don't have any Peachy Keen Stamps to make the faces super cute, but he still turned out.  Thanks for stopping by!

So Delightful!

It's so "delightful" to be able to spend time crafting each day as things have calmed down a bit with my husband.  I can now say that he is officially graduated from a cancer patient to a cancer survivor!  The docs have deemed him cured and have decided to stop all further treatments that were supposed to last for another year.  He is going to go back to work next week after being on LTD since last June.  It will be a huge adjustment, but will be so good to return to a sense of normalcy.  He has been taken to death's door with all the chemo and radiation, but is now coming back and getting stronger every day.  It will be a long road of recovery, but at least he won't be getting knocked down every three weeks with more treatment.  So with that said, here is a card I made for a couple of challenges this week.  Have I mentioned how much I LOVE challenges?  They are such an awesome source of inspiration for me, I am so grateful for all the blogs that have weekly challenges!  BBTB2 issued a challenge to use a ladybug and Die Cuttin' Divas issued a sketch challenge; I combined the two with this "delightful" card.  My ladybug is from Paisley, I ran her through the Cuttlebug using the Swiss Dots folder; and the patterned paper is from DCWV Nana's Kitchen stack.  I have used foam tape to pop up the sentiment and my ladybug.  I stamped the sentiment and inked around the edges of my card with ColorBox Chalk Ink Rose Coral from the Rose Petals Cat's Eye stack.  Thanks for reading through my long-winded post!!!  Have a crafty week!

My #1 Dad

Here is the Father's Day card I have created for my Dad.  I personally think he is the best dad in the world.  But we all should think that of our fathers, right?  Hope so!  He is not a golfer or a fisherman, he is the ultimate Handy Man.  When I went through all my carts, I didn't have anything that I could use for tools.  I went to MyCutSearch.com to see what carts had tools and low and behold there is a cart called "Handy Man".  Of course it is no longer available unless you want to pay $100 for it on Amazon or Ebay.  SO BUMMED!!!  That cart would have been so perfect for me to create a card for my dad.  He is a builder/carpenter/jack-of-all trades and I love him for it!  Anyway, I ended up using this cut from Celebrate with Flourish, it will definitely work.  The patterned paper is from The Guy Stack from DCWV, all the tools and masculine colors - awesome!  I will be entering this card in Paper Playtime (use two or more ribbons/twine/cord), CardzTV (Father's Day), My Craft Spot (Dad), and even though this card isn't exactly the sketch from Mojo Monday, I did draw inspiration from this week's sketch to create it.  Thanks for visiting!

FCCB Challenge #163 Ribbons, Ruffles, and Bows

Hello all you challenge addicts (I know I am one, so I mean no offense)! This week welcomes another fantabulous challenge over at FCCB - Ribbons, Ruffles, and Bows.  Link up your projects you have created using 2 or more types of ribbon.  I had fun with this challenge and hopefully you will too.  I used Create-A-Critter 2 to make this adorable little party monkey.  The paper is from DCWV Birthday Wishes 6x6 stack.  I used some $1 American Craft ribbon I got from Joann's and generic white curling ribbon for this card.  I used glue dots to tack down the curling ribbon then curled them up with some scissors - Easy Peasy!  I hope you will join us this week over at FCCB!
