I am attempting to maintain a blog filled with random bits from my life and family as well as my adventures in crafting.

Happy Birthday to "Ewe"

Cricut, Birthday Bash Cartridge, Birthday Card, Happy Birthday
Here is a fun Birthday card I made using the Birthday Bash cartridge.  I combined 5 challenges with the card too!  Craftin' Desert Divas (Birthday), Exploring Cricut (Down on the Farm), Whimsical Designs (Pile It On), Die Cuttin' Divas (Anything Goes), and the sketch comes from Mojo Monday.  I had fun encorporating all of these challenges!  I so wish I had some of the fun pun stamp sets that so many of the crafters have created, but until then I am fine using the phrases that the different Cricut cartridges have to go along with the cuts.  My paper comes from Cloud 9 Designs "Fiesta Gloss", I used Swiss Dots embossing folder for the wool, and a couple of flowers from Michael's bargain bin.  I have put together a video to show how it all came together...

FCCB Challenge #171 - Shape Card

OH MY GOODNESS! This card drove me CRAZY!!! What a challenge it was for me, but I am so glad that I stuck with it and finished it. Don't get me wrong, I am super excited that FCCB has this challenge to create a shape card, I had never done one before, so I am happy that I finally did, but WOW! What a learning experience it was for me. I used Wrap It Up for the fun school house card, Designer's Calendar for the "Back 2 School" phrase, and Simply Charmed for the paper and pencil. The pattern paper all comes from the DCWV Grade School pack. I did some free hand cutting on the inside mats and tried faux stitching for the first time ever. My video goes into more detail of how this all came together. Honestly, I am not in love with this card, but it works. When I showed it to my husband he said, "What happened?" Mainly because this card is so far from my regular style. But that's okay, it is always good to step outside of your comfort zone, figure things out, experiment and learn - trial and error, right? My 4 year old son is excited to give this to his preschool teacher next month and that's what matters. I hope you will join us this week over at FCCB for our Shape Card challenge, I am excited to see your projects and anxious to learn more of the secrets behind the shape card feature!!!  I will also be entering this card in CardzTV challenge they have going on this week.

Joy in July - Rudolph Style!

Cricut, Create-A-Critter, Christmas Card, Rudolph, Mini Monograms,

Fun! Fun! Fun!, another Christmas in July project!  Little Scrap Pieces, BBTB2, and HIMCR have all issued challenges for Christmas in July.  Seeing as how it is almost August, they barely squeaked by :)  This fun card was made using Create-A-Critter and Mini Monograms.  Cute little Rudolph, he just makes me smile, was cut at 3" and popped up on some dimensionals.  The "JOY" circles were cut at 1" with two shadow circles behind; one at 1" the other at 1 and 1/4 inch.  My patterned paper is from My Mind's Eye Dear Santa stack.  The ribbon is just a silky/satin white, not sure where it's from.  Hope you like!

Make a Splash!

Cricut, Create-A-Critter
Once summer hits, it's pool parties every weekend with my family.  My parents have one of the LARGE above ground pools that we set up every year and my whole family is over there every Saturday swimming.  So in honor of Pool Parties and Trips to the Beach, I made this fun summer card and will be entering it into Little Scrap Pieces and Bitten By The Bug 2 challenges this week.  All my pattern paper comes from a Recollections pack from Michael's, with the exception of the water wave paper; that paper came from a pack from Wal-Mart.  The fun beach ball and "splash" come from Create-A-Critter.  I love the colors in this card, so bright and sunny!

With Sympathy

Cricut, Songbird Cartridge, We R Memory Keepers Sew Easy, With Sympathy Card

Unfortunately we all have to make cards for certain occasions that are more solemn than birthdays or thank yous.  My mom asked me to make a card for a co-worker that recently lost his dad.  I did take this opportunity to use a couple challenges that I could incorporate into a nice sympathy card.  My Craft Spot issued "Sew Fun" this week and Die Cuttin' Divas issued "Twice is Nice".  I pulled out my We R Memory Keepers Sew Easy tool and gave that another whirl - jury is still out on how I feel about this crafting tool, but this time it seemed easier than the attemps before.  I used Songbird for the birds on the outside and inside.  The layout is from Mojo Monday and I really like how the card came together.

FCCB Challenge #170 - Fruit Salad

It's another Fabulous Challenge Me Monday over at FCCB - Fruit Salad! This week we are challenging you to create a card, project, or layout using any sort of fruit.  So get those Cricut's chirpin'!!!  Here is a video of how I went about putting my card together:

I used Celebrate with Flourish for my YUMMY! Chocolate Covered Strawberry and Mini Monograms for the flower/scallop the strawberry is popped up on. I inked the edges of my awesome new paper (My Mind's Eye Indie Chic) with some Tim Holtz Tea Dye Distress Ink. I found some flat back pearls from a Michael's $1.50 bin that worked perfectly and my sentiment, well watch the video to see how that came about :)

Cricut, Celebrate with Flourish, Mini Monograms, Tags Bags Boxes and More, Cricut Cards

The inside of my card I did something a little different. I have never done this before, but I made a little pocket, like you would for a mini album, and a tag from Tags, Bags, Boxes and More. There is space for another sentiment stamp on the front of the tag and the back is ready for a hand written note. You could also use the pocket for a gift card or something fun like that! I do like how this card turned out and I am excited to actually give this one away!!! (I find myself hoarding my cards - does anyone else do that?)

And because the papers and colors for this card are some of my absolute favorites, I am going to be linking it up with Whimsical Designs this week.  Hiding In My Craft Room's challenge for the week is Freestyle, and Paper Playtime's challenge is Pattern Paper, so this fits the bill for those too!

Birthday Boys and Ice Cream Cones

Cricut Simply Charmed Cartridge Ice Cream Cone Birthday Card

This cute little card is what I came up with for the Die Cuttin Diva's challenge this week.  In July we celebrate freedom, pioneers, and ICE CREAM!!!  I needed a little boy birthday card and so I pulled from my scraps and assembled this fun card.  Also, this is my very first card using Peachy Keen Stamps!!! I am so excited to FINALLY have these adorable stamps in my collection.  I can't believe I waited so long to get them!  Anyway, I used the Simply Charmed cartridge for this little Ice Cream Cone, and used Memento Tuxedo Black ink for the face and sentiments.  I did use a white gel pen to dot the eyes and both the ice cream cone and "Celebrate" sentiment are popped up on one thickness of foam tape.  Hopefully, you will check out my video to see how it all came together!  Thanks for stopping by!!!

Back to Summer in July!

Cricut Stretch Your Imagination Cartridge Ice Cream Cone Card
Now back to a Summer in July card!  BBTB2 is thinking more along my lines of summer - ICE CREAM! And it is National Ice Cream Month, so why not?!?!  I am seriously thinking of ordering some Blue Bell Ice Cream from Texas and having it shipped up to me...THE BEST ICE CREAM IN THE WORLD!!!  I've done it before, I can certainly do it again :)  Anyway, my fun little ice cream cone on my card comes from Stretch Your Imagination.  I haven't used that cart in a while so thought I would dust it off.  I am also entering this card into Hiding In My Craft Room's Scrap Saturday challenge.  All the papers on this card came from my scrap stash, so I have no idea what paper/paper pack they have come from.  I used some We R Memory Keepers twine and my stamp is from a Fiskars stamp set.  Mojo Monday is responsible for the sketch from their challenge this week and I am entering this in Whimsical Designs' challenge to keep it Clean and Simple.  Craftin Desert Diva's is still enjoying their linky party of All Things Summer, so I'll link this up over there too.  Hope you like!

It's Still Christmas in July!

Cricut Christmas Cheer Cartridge Christmas Santa Card

Lot's of challenges this week are getting us in the Christmas spirit! CardzTV, Exploring Cricut, and My Craft Spot are all on board with Christmas in July!  I'm slowly getting converted!  This is the card I made for the challenges.  I used Christmas Cheer for Santa, Santa's List, and the Christmas Tree on the inside.  My paper is from My Mind's Eye Lost and Found Rosy 6x6 pack.  My video goes into more detail of how I put my card together, so I hope you'll take the time to watch it.  I explained in my video that I was going to also enter this in Whimsical Designs' challenge of Clean and Simple, but I am going to enter a different card in that challenge, isn't great that we can change our minds at the last minute in this crafting hobby of ours!?!? Thanks for stoppin' by!

FCCB Challenge #169 Set the Scene

Cricut New Arrival Cartridge

Today over at FCCB we have started a new challenge! This is a fun one so you'll want to play along! "Set the Scene", create any project that creates a fun scene, inside or out.  I chose to set a scene in a nursery.  I used my new cartridge New Arrival (yes, I just barely got this one) and cut out the bassinet, some onesies, and some baby toys.  Most of my cuts were 1", pretty small, but super cute!  My paper is from K&Company, a baby boy pack I picked up from JoAnn's.  I am also going to be entering this card in Little Scrap Pieces "Oh Baby" challenge that is going on this week.  I have also done another video for this card, so I hope you will check it out...

Thanks A Melon

Cricut Just Because Cards Sweet Treats Cartridge
I was excited to make a tag this week for Paper Playtime's challenge, I don't make too many and I will be able to use this to give to some friends of ours for a BBQ they are hosting at the end of the month.  I like how there is plenty of room on the back to write a little note.  I think it would be cute to present this with a actual watermelon when we show up.  I used Just Because Cards for the slice of melon and stencil, and Sweet Treats for the tag and topper.  I used some paper from My Mind's Eye Lost & Found 6x6 pack and inked around all the edges with Tim Holtz Tea Dye Distress ink.  I am also entering this into Craftin' Desert Diva's challenge of "Summer" and a challenge blog that I just found (don't know why it has taken me this long to find) Hiding In My Craft Room; the challenge there is "Red and Green".  Thanks A Melon for stoppin' by!

A Ruby Tuesday

Cricut Sweet Treats Cartridge Cupcake Swiss Dots Embossing
Happy Tuesday! Over at Die Cuttin' Diva's a new challenge started today - "Ruby Red".  And although I don't use Red very often, I did enjoy making this card.  I found some fun patterned paper in my stash that I thought would work great.  It is from a 6x6 Colorbok (Wal-Mart) paper pack, so it's a bit thinner but I put it on a heavier mat and it worked out great.  The layout is courtesy of Mojo Monday, so this will be entered in their weekly challenge as well.  I embossed the brown mat with Paper Studio's Quatrefoil folder, the cream mat was embossed with Swiss Dots.  The red mat is a shiny ruby red, but the camera doesn't capture it too well.  The last challenge I am entering this into is Use It Tuesday's Birthday challenge.  I cut the cute cupcake from Sweet Treats and embossed the cake with Divine Swirls.  I also used foam tape to pop the image up a bit.  Part of Use It Tuesday's challenge is to use hoarded crafting supplies, and I have to say I have had these two red buttons for over 2 years!  So today, I am using them - finally!  Hopefully you can join in on one of these three fun challenges!

Christmas in July

There is a challenge over at Whimsical Designs to create a card or project for Christmas.  It's never too early, right? Well, maybe.  Anyway, I used this opportunity to try out my new We R Memory Keepers SewEasy.  It is going to take me a bit to master, but I think the stitching turned out okay on this card.  It also takes a while to sew, the sewing machine is much faster, but I do like the look of this stitching a little bit better.  Just need to keep practicing.  I was also able to use my new cartridge (new to me) Christmas Cheer, an oldie, but I have always wanted it and since it was retired I haven't been able to find it.  That is until I found a huge blowout of used cartridges at a local craft warehouse and nabbed it for $20.  So this sleigh is cut from that cart and I popped it up with some foam tape.  I cut the tag from Elegant Edges and inked around the edges with Color Box Blue Iris chalk ink.  The paper is from My Mind's Eye Dear Santa stack. Another funny thing about the timing of this challenge, my friend just moved to Washington and she just sent an email with her new address saying to make sure and send Christmas cards, well, she's going to get this next week.

FCCB Challenge #168 Cute As A Bug

I am so excited for this week! I finally hit 100 followers last week and I always told myself if ever I get 100 followers, I would post a video. So, here is my first video for Mollie's Motif!

This video shows the card I made for the FCCB Challenge #168 Cute As A Bug.  There are so many carts out there with cute, cute bugs and insects, the hardest part about this challenge will be which one to use!  That's what I discovered anyway.  But I ended up using the cute snail on the Live Simply cartridge.  I also used a scallop/flower cut from the same cart to put behind the snail shell.  I used two paper packs from DCWV - Hippie Chic and Shimmer Mat Stack, both of which I got from JoAnn's on clearance for $5.  I used foam tape to pop up my little snail and sentiment and I just freehanded the cutting around my sentiment tag.

Cricut Expression project using the snail from the Live Simply Cartridge and Hippie Chic paper pack

The inside of my card is a simple mat from the Hippie Chic stack and orange/peach cardstock from Recollections (the same as the base mat on the front of my card and sentiment tag).  The little flower is also from Live Simply.

I hope you are able to join us this week for our challenge over at FCCB! It was a fun challenge for me and know it will be for you!  Thanks for checking in!

And The Rockets Red Glare...

I am so proud to be an American! This country is fabulous and even though I don't agree with how things are run sometimes, there is no where else I'd rather live!  I love the 4th of July holiday to remember how great America truly is! I also LOVE fireworks, and that brings me to my card.  This fun rocket is found on the Something To Celebrate cart.  I wish I had Stand and Salute, but once again I got in the game a bit late and a bunch of carts are retired that I wish I could have in my library.  I used CardzTV "Happy Days" stamp set for the sentiment and K & Company embellishment stickers.  I went through my scrap stash to find the papers, but the majority of it is DCWV.  The worded paper is from Hobby Lobby.  The layout is courtesy of Mojo Monday for their week's challenge.  I am also entering this card in BBTB2's challenge as well as Little Scrap Pieces, Cut it Up Challenge and Paper Playtime.

FCCB 4th of July Cricut Crawl - Red, White & Blue!

Welcome to Mollie's Motif and the 4th of July Fantabulous Cricut Crawl - Fantabulous Cricut's version of a Blog Hop!!

In honor of the 4th of July holiday, we're having a Red, White and Blue Crawl. Each Design Team member has created a fabulous project using Red, White and Blue as the main colors, and of course at least one Cricut cut!

If you've come from Connie at Connie Can Crop, you're in the right place! If you've just happened across my blog and would like to see all the fabulous Design Team creations head on over to Fantabulous Cricut HERE to start at the beginning.

Make sure to check out each DT member's blog! There will be Blog Candy along the way at some of our DT members' blogs, and there will be a Grand Prize up for grabs at FCCB for one participant who submits a "Red White and Blue" project at FCCB!

For my project I kept it pretty simple! I used some muted Red, White, and Blue colors instead of the bright traditional colors.  I cut three stars from George, embossed them with Swiss Dots, then inked them up with Tim Holtz Tea Dye Distress Ink.  I found some fun 4th of July paper at Hobby Lobby and used my We R Memory Keepers SewEasy for the stitching along the side (I'm still trying to master that tool).  I did ink the edges of my base card with some of the same ink as the stars and I don't have a distressing tool, but I did use my fingernail to rough up the edges a bit (anyone else do that?)  Anyway, thanks so much for stopping by and I hope you are enjoying our "crawl"!!!

Your next stop is Felicia at Sweet Creative Mess. Make sure to visit all the stops along the way and when you get done, make sure you link up your project to FCCB's Fantabulous Cricut Crawl post!!

Happy Crawling!!

Here is the line up in case you get lost:
