My Project:
So, I just have to say how much I LOVED working with the paper I got from the Paper Temptress!!! The DT was able to order some for this challenge, and I couldn't be more happy with my choices.  First off, I LOVE the shimmer and shine to this paper - BEAUTIFUL!!! Secondly, it cut and embossed PERFECTLY!!!  What more could you ask for in paper, right?  Anyway, I decided for my CAS card to make a Valentine's card.  The sketch comes from Mojo Monday, so I will link this up over there.  I rounded all my corners though, using my large corner rounder from Hobby Lobby/Paper Studio.  I used Swiss Dots, Divine Swirls, and Doodle Hearts embossing folders.  My hearts come from the Sweethearts cartridge and my sentiment stamp is from a Fiskar's mini set.  I will also be linking this up over at Little Scrap Pieces.  I hope you are able to join us this week over at HIMCR for our CAS challenge!  Thanks for checkin' in!!!

HIMCR Challenge #129 - CASE Yourself!

hidinginmycraftroom.com
Challenge #129
CASE Yourself!
Prize is a CTMH Stamp Set

So I don't know about you, but I have PLENTY of cards that I could CASE (and make some major improvements with).  When I first started card making, I really didn't know what I was doing, I still don't, but I have a better idea of what I am doing, and a better inventory of supplies, paper, cartridges, stamps, etc, etc, etc.  It's amazing what you accumulate over the course of the years...

Anyway, here is a card I made when I first started out:
My original post was January 25, 2011 - Cricut Cardz Snowman Challenge "So the challenge was to make a project using a snowman image. Well, as you can see there is no snowman on my card. Because I am so new to the cricut and crafting, I have not yet acquired a cartridge with a snowman. But I did find on my Home Accents cart an image that I think can pass off as a snowflake. So even though I technically don't qualify for this challenge, I still wanted to participate. I don't have any winter type stamps either, but if I did have a winter saying, I would stamp it next to the snowflake on the pink stripe."
Here is the CASE (new and improved):
This time I do have a Christmas/Winter cart (several actually) that I had an actual snowflake - Winter Woodland (Snowflake #4).  I cut it out at 2 3/4" in some light blue and at 3" in a darker blue/turquoise and layered them together with some foam tape.  I also cut down the patterned paper so I could show off the embossed mat - D'vine Swirls - also acquired since the original card :) I even have some Christmas/Winter stamp sets (surprise surprise) that I was able to include.  Amazing what some experience - and supplies - can do!!!

Side By Side:

I hope you are able to join us this week over at HIMCR for our fun challenge! Pick a card that you would like to copy (or re-invent) and share it with us!!!

Thanks for checkin' in!!!

Always Crafting Whimsical Wednesday Distress It

So this week our challenge from http://www.alwayscrafting.com was to distress our craft. I have to admit, I had to google what that entailed because I had never done it, nor had I really ever heard of it. But once I saw some tutorials on youtube and other blogs, I figured it out. I was amazed at some of the looks that were out there on distressed projects, it really is a cool aspect to crafting. There are a lot of fun distressing tools out there too, none of which I own at this point. So I basically tore my cardstock and used my fingernails on the edges of the actual card. I did use the D'vine Swirls Cuddlebug folder to add a bit more to the mat, it is a pretty simple card. The "thanks" is cut from Mini Monograms.

FCCB - Weather Forecast

So, another challenge. I love them, I admit. Our challenge was to create a project featuring any season of our choice. Well, I love Spring, and am excited for the warmer weather. We actually got a taste of high 50's these last couple of days, but now another storm in on it's way and will be dropping to the 30's again. Boo Hoo. Anyway, I not only love Spring because of the warmer weather, I love it because of the beauty. The flowers and tree blossoms, I love it. So I thought I would create a "beautiful" scene with an appropriate sentiment at the top. All the images are from April Showers and the tree I put through the Cuttlebug with D'vine Swirls.
