Wildly Yummy Birthday!

Cricut, From My Kitchen, Cupcake, Birthday

Over at An Inky Situation, there is a cupcake challenge going on and I thought I would put together a quick card and video for it. I am also going to be linking up over at Little Scrap Pieces (you can link up ANY card project or layout).  At first I didn't know what I was going to do with the cute cupcake I cut out using the From My Kitchen cartridge, but when I remembered I had a super cute paper pack from Heidi Swapp "Sugar Chic" with safari prints, I knew exactly what to do. My niece's birthday is next week and she LOVES zebra print, so it just all came together. I printed out the sentiment 'Have a Wildly Yummy Birthday" from my computer and popped it up on some foam tape. My cupcake is also popped up on some foam tape for added dimension. I used some bling from a Michael's $1.50 pack and called it good. The inside just has a zebra mat and yellow card stock for writing a fun message. Super fun! Hope she likes it!

Sending Warm Fuzzies...

Cricut, Doodlecharms

Here is a fun card I created for BBTB2 (water theme) and Die Cuttin' Divas (just because) challenges this week. I pulled out the oldie but goodie Doodlecharms for this card. I have never used the palm tree or sun from this cart and thought this would be the perfect opportunity! I had an awesome sentiment that fits nicely with this beach scene too, so that was a bonus! I used yellow glitter paper for the sun, which I'm pretty sure came from Colorbok (Wal-mart), and the white sandy beach I created with some fun glitter paper from DCWV Linen Closet mat stack. I had some of the sky and water paper in my scrap stash, so it's always nice to use those up. The sun is popped up on some foam tape as well as the front palm tree, just for some added dimension. I did run the leaves through the Cuttlebug using Swiss Dots, and I think everything just turned out great!  Thanks for checking out my card!

Happy Kindergarten!

Cricut, Wrap It Up, Schoolhouse Box, Plantin Schoolbook

Cricut, Wrap It Up, Schoolhouse Box, Plantin Schoolbook
I am so excited to be linking up to a challenge over at Decorate to Celebrate! It's been WAY too long since I have.  The challenge is to create Back To School and Classroom Favors for a party or celebration.  Well, my little guy is seeing all of his friends start kindergarten and because he has a late birthday won't start until next year, but he does start preschool next week, so that's GREAT!  He wanted to make some cookies today and bring them to his friend and say "Happy Kindergarten" to him.  I thought it was a perfect opportunity to have a craft day with him too.  He picked out what he wanted to make, I just put it together.  So even though this isn't for a party, per se, it is a Back To School favor.  The schoolhouse box comes from the Wrap It Up Cartridge, the ABC/123 comes from Plantin Schoolbook, along with the apple tag.  I used patterned paper from DCWV Grade School pack.  It turned out really cute, and my son was super proud and excited to give it to his friend, he even wrote his name on the back of the tag - and that made me super proud!

An Exciting Announcement!!!

I am so excited to announce that I am now officially a part of the Cut It Up Challenges Design Team!!! I can't wait to get started with the awesome challenges coming up and see what you all create.  Another opportunity to learn and grow and get to know more of the crafters out there! LOVE IT!!!  Head on over to see the rest of the amazing Design Team and check out their awesome blogs.

Get Well Soon

I am so glad there were some challenges this week to help me put together a Get Well Soon card. I didn't have any in my inventory, so YAY! for being prepared when someone I know is sick! I followed the Mojo Monday sketch for the week and chose the scallop circle card, haven't done one in a while. Then over at CardzTV there is a fun color challenge of black, white, and a POP of yellow. I am also entering this into My Craft Spot (Get Well Soon), Exploring Cricut (use at least two cuts) and Use It Tuesday (trends).  I used Birthday Bash for the scallop circle card and the two base mats, George for my ovals, and Walk In My Garden for the Iris's. When I first heard of the trend "Washi Tape", I had no idea what it was, but I had to have it, so I went out and found some black and white tape about a year ago. This is the second time I have used it, so I wasn't so good at actually following/using the trend. But you can see the Washi tape behind my oval mat. I also used some flat back pearls from Michaels to finish off the card. I'm pleased with how this turned out and have a video for you to watch how it all came together.

FCCB Challenge #175 - Heat Wave

This week we are celebrating the record high temps we've all been having this summer over at FCCB. "Heat Wave" is the challenge this week and I don't know about you, but I'm ready for fall! It really has been a HOT summer. So please get out your Cricuts and enjoy this last summer challenge with us! My card was made using the Simply Charmed cartridge and some awesome paper from Blossoms and Butterflies DCWV pack. It's a very simple card, but certainly conveys the heat wave this year. How hot does it have to be for the sun to be wearing sunglasses? That's too hot to handle! I printed the sentiment from my computer and I stole the winter/Christmas saying, "Baby, it's cold outside" and flipped it to say, "Baby, it's HOT outside." What else would this sun be saying?  So please head on over take a look at the awesome design teams' projects And link yours up!  I've got another video for you to take a look at how this one came together. Enjoy!

Many More Miles...

Cricut, Just Because Cards, Old Timer Truck

Oh, the dreaded Masculine Birthday Card...Just Kidding! But seriously, why are they so much harder to make? Luckily, I had an awesome 6x6 paper pack from Echo Park "This & That Charming" that has some awesome masculine papers in it.  Just Because Cards cartridge has the awesome old timer truck and it just all came together very nicely.  I printed the sentiment from my computer just on some white cardstock and thought it was a perfect saying.  The truck is popped up with some foam tape and I tied some hemp twine around the bottom, to serve as sort of a "dirt road".  I am so happy with how everything came together and am excited to give this to my MIL to give to one of her brothers.  I will be entering this card into the HIMCR,  Little Scrap Pieces, and Craftin' Desert Divas challenges.

Friends Are Forever...

Hope you are able to watch my video to see how this card came together!

Something To Celebrate, Cricut, Friendship Card

I created this card for a bunch of challenges that I will list below.  I bought a new paper pack from Hobby Lobby during one of their 50% off sales, it is the Khloe Lane pack and it is super fun paper!  I wanted to use it for this card so this is what I came up with some of the different patterns from that pack.  I used Something To Celebrate and George to cut the cute little birds and the two circles.  My banners I just free-handed along with the triangles/corners.  I attempted some faux stitching, my first time, and it was a lot easier than I had anticipated.  I like how it turned out.  The embellishments came from Michael's; a pack of green paper flowers and a pack of flat back pearls for $1.50 each - can't beat that!  My stamp comes from a Fiskar's set and I used ColorBox Chestnut Ink.  The circles and birds are popped up using some foam tape.  The inside is super simple, I just made some more banners from the scraps left over and put a mat together for handwriting a little note.  I also did faux stitching on the inside to carry over the look.  I am planning on sending this card to a friend of mine who recently moved out of state that I have known for over 25 years - so basically forever!

Here are the challenges:

BBTB2 - Use a Bird
Craftin' Desert Divas - Anything Goes
Paper Playtime - Use Pearls
Little Scrap Pieces - Anything Goes
HIMCR - Thread/Stitching
CardzTV - Pop It Up

FCCB Challenge #174 Summer Camp

Create-A-Critter, Cricut, Handmade Card

Welcome to another fabulous challenge at FCCB! This week we want to see your projects that have to do with Summer Camp or camping in general. My favorite part of camping is FIRE! I'm a bit of a pyro, so my card should come as no surprise or that I chose the cute little fire from Create-A-Critter. I also cut the trees from the same cart. I used some We R Memory Keepers twine to wrap around the card. My paper comes from DCWV The Guy Stack and a starry scrap that I'm not sure where I got or who it's from. I popped up all my images with some foam tape and stamped a fun greeting on the front. I hope you are able to join us this week and link your projects up. Head on over to see the other design teams' creations - they are fabulous as always. I have also put together a video for you to see how my card came together, hope you'll watch!

Ooooh!

Cricut, Toy Story Cartridge
Ooooh! My family only has 4 more months until our LONG overdue vacation to the DL (DisneyLand).  We are SOOOO excited!  My 4 year old will almost be 5 by the time we go and this will be his 8th time going.  Can we say SPOILED?  We LOVE DisneyLand and go as often as possible.  So when I saw the challenge over at Exploring Cricut, I was all over it! They have challenged us to create a project with a Disney theme.  Also, BBTB2 issued a challenge of using moons and stars in our projects.  Put the two together and I couldn't help but think of Buzz Lightyear and the cute space alien toys.  Truth be known, the Pixar carts can be a LITTLE tedious, so I did opt out of putting Buzz together and kept it simple with one of the little aliens.  Hallelujah for craft tweezers!  The Toy Story cartridge also has this super fun frame and I cut my card to match the shape.  Put some star paper in the background and we have ourselves a super cute card!

Happy Days!

Cricut, Simply Charmed, We R Memory Keepers, CardzTV Stamps, Peachy Keen Stamps

Welcome to another FABULOUS week over at FCCB!  This week we are challenging you to create a "Cool Treat" project.  Summer is the perfect time for popsicles and ice cream, right?  And with school right around the corner, we need to soak in as much of summer that's left!  My card is a 5x5 this week and my base card is a fun hot pink.  I have an aqua colored mat and some FUN glitter paper alongside super cute cool treat pattern paper (from Recollections All Seasons pack).  I used some We R Memory Keepers baker's twine and of course a PKS for the cute face.  I did color the eyes with a white gel pen and used some ColorBox Chalk Ink for the rosy cheeks.  My Happy Days! sentiment stamp comes from CardzTV "Happy Days" stamp set that I was lucky enough to win after a challenge with Mary.  The popsicle comes from Simply Charmed and is popped up on two thicknesses of foam tape.

Here is a better shot of how fun and pretty the yellow glitter paper is - I LOVE IT! I am super happy with how this card turned out, and I have a video for you to see how it all came together, hope you check it out!

Just A Note...

Cricut, Forever Young, Modern Wallpaper, Embossing, Cuttlebug

I am so excited how this card all came together!  When I pulled out my black and white scraps to go through for a couple challenges, I had a few pieces of, I guess, damask pattern paper and I immediately thought of my sister. She just finished up a semester towards her 2nd Bachelor's Degree and has many more to go; I'm super proud of her and wanted her to know that and give her a bit of encouragment, so she was my inspiration for this card.  Anyway, My Creative Time's challenge is to create a black & white card, while HIMCR is having the Super Scraps Saturday challenge.  I pulled out my Forever Young cartridge and found a model with, what looked like to me, a maxi dress and I knew that's the one to use for my sister.  I also cut the frame and shadow frame behind her from the same cart.  I did emboss my white mat with the Cuttlebug's Modern Wallpaper embossing folder, and I LOVE how it looks.  I embellished the card with a matching flower and two buttons, added the sentiment on the bottom and called it complete!  An Inky Situation also has a challenge to use buttons, so I'll be entering it there too.  I really hope my sis likes this card, I think it turned out great.  I have a video on how it all came together, hope you'll check it out!

Oh, Happy Day!

Cricut, Walk In My Garden, LadyBug, Happy Day, Swiss Dots

I am so excited to finally be entering a PKS Challenge! I am LOVING my PKS's and am having so much fun using them on my cards.  This week they have a sketch challenge which I used to create this fun ladybug card.  I am also entering this card in CardzTV "Seeing Red" challenge, Cut It Up's challenge of "What's Bugging You", and My Craft Spot's challenge of "Clean and Simple".  My card base is black, with a red base mat.  I used Swiss Dots to emboss my white mat, Walk in My Garden for the ladybug and leaves, and my red flower mat comes from DCWV Green Stack.  The PKS face comes from the Everyday Character set and I used some silvery glitter ink (I don't have white...yet).  I finished the card off with some black and white twine from We R Memory Keepers.  My sentiment comes from CardzTV "Happy Days" stamp set and I used Memento Tuxedo Black Ink.  I think this is a simple and cute card, I really like how it turned out.  Thanks for checking it out!

Sending Happy Thoughts...

Cricut, Kate's ABC's, Tim Holtz Tea Dye Distress Ink, Fiskars stamps, Friendship Card
Here is a sweet little card I put together for someone who might need a word or two of encouragement.  I drew inspiration from a few challenges to create it.  Die Cuttin' Divas provided the sketch for their challenge this week and An Inky Situation provided the color pallette.  Although I don't have the SU color scheme of Calypso Coral, Marina Mist, or So Saffron, I did the best I could with what I do own.  The polka dot paper comes from DCWV Nana's Kids, the flowery coral paper comes from Cloud 9 Designs Fiesta Gloss, and the blue patterned paper comes from a ColorBok paper pack from Wal-Mart.  My sentiment comes from a mini Fiskars set and the pitcher of flowers is cut from Kate's ABC's.  I had some generic blue buttons that fit perfectly.  I inked around all the edges with Tim Holtz Tea Dye Distress Ink.  I'll also be entering this card in Whimsical Design's Anything Goes challenge.

Hello Little Bird

Cricut, Live Simply, We R Sew Easy

I have embarked on another set of challenges rolled up into one card--Mojo Monday, HIMCR (Color Challenge), CardzTV (Sew Much Fun), and Whimsical Designs (Going Buggy).  I used Live Simply for the cute little birdie in the nest, and We R Memory Keepers Sew Easy tools for the stitching around my base mat. My paper comes from Recollections and DCWV Cafe Mediterranean and Linen Closet Mat Stacks.  I did use The Paper Studio's Curl Ribbon Embossing Folder and a stamp from a Fiskars everyday sayings set.  I have also made a video showing how it all came together, hope you check it out!

School Days

Cricut, Stretch Your Imagination, Cricut Classic Font, School Decor
I am SOOOO excited that my son is starting Preschool this year, I am sure I am more excited than he is.  He will be 5 in December, and it has been a LONG 4 1/2 years with him home!  Don't get me wrong, I LOVE my little guy, but he has been a handful from Day 1.  I am also excited that I can start decorating for Back To School in my house, where all the other years, it seemed silly because I didn't have any kids in school.  So here is my first "School Days" home decor project.  I really like how it turned out! I used Stretch Your Imagination for the bus and Cricut Classic Font for the letters.  The wood plaque/base was from Wal-Mart for $1 and I painted it with black acrylic paint.  I used Elmer's Paper Craft Glue to adhere my yellow cardstock mat and DCWV Grade School pattern paper down. The letters were just put together with a Zig Glue Pen, the paper for the letters was also from DCWV Grade School pack.  I used some foam tape to pop up the bus to give a more 3-D look.  I am happy with how it turned out!  I will be entering this project in a few challenges this week; Craftin' Desert Divas (Back To School), BBTB2 (School Bus), Paper Playtime (Use Lots of Yellow).

FCCB Challenge #172 - Make A Splash

Oh Boy, Oh Boy...another fun AND challenging challenge for me this week with our FCCB weekly challenge! But I LOVE a good challenge....sometimes, and not 2 weeks in a row :)  We are SOOOO excited to have The Paper Nest sponsoring the challenge this week and for letting us, the design team, use some of their digital stamps.  Their website is so user friendly and downloading and printing the image couldn't have been more easy.  So a HUGE shout out to them!!!  Our challenge this week is "Make A Splash".  What's summer without a few fun water activites at the pool, beach or lake, right?  We want to see all your fun projects realting to water!  This is the first time I have ever used a digital stamp (as you can probably tell!) and Mermaid Ellie is the stamp I chose from The Paper Nest.  I think she is so super cute, well she was before I colored her :) Seriously, I didn't know what I was doing, but I did my best.  I just used whatever colored pencils I had on hand, tried some shading/highlighting/blending and what you see is what I was able to do.  I used Create-A-Critter for the seashell and starfish, and cut them out of some glitter paper.  Used some flatback pearls and fun designer paper to create the ocean scene.  For the side borders on my mats I used Spellbinders Edgeabilities Classic Scallop and ran them through my Cuttlebug using the C plate.  I am so grateful that I had this opportunity to work with a digital stamp, but I don't think I will be going out and buying any Copics anytime soon :)  Hope you will join us this week and be sure to check out the awesome design team's projects!!!  We'd even love to see some of the digital stamps from The Paper Nest on your projects.  Here is a video of how my card came together...

Sunny Days...

Here is a fun, bright, summery card I created for Cut It Up and My Creative Time's challenges this week. Both have a summer theme and you definitely need sunglasses on these hot, bright, sunny summer days!  I have a quick video on how it all came together...

I used Paisley for the sunglasses and Create-A-Critter for the phrase "Sunny Days".  All of my patterned paper comes from Recollections from Michael's.

Cricut, Paisley Cartridge, Create-A-Critter Cartridge, Stickles, Recollections Paper, Summer Card

I used Stickles for the "sunny" and as bling on the sunglasses, here is a better shot of all the glitter.

This was a quick card that came together quite nicely.  I love the colors and the summertime feel to this card!  Thanks for checking it out!
