Paper Play Sketches 39 - Thank you!

Happy Wednesday!

Okay, so it has been a LOOOOONG time since
I have linked up to another blog's challenge...

I have been so busy with life,
I barely get things done on time
for the Design Teams I'm currently on.

So this is a BIG moment ;)

Anyway, I started up watching some of CardzTV's videos,
another thing I haven't done in quite a long time,
and how can you not be inspired and motivated to create
after watching Mary, right?!?!

Her latest video is for the blog
I really liked the simplicity of the sketch
and wanted to give it a go.

So here is a Thank You card I made.
I used CardzTV's "Many Thanks" stamp set
for the sentiment.

The flower is cut from Accent Essentials.
I cut it at 1 1/2 inches with a shadow.
You can't tell in the pic,
but the white paper I used has a
shimmery/glossy finish.
It's a perfect match for the glittery flowers
in the background paper.
A fun little jewel was ideal for
the center of the flower.

My background paper is DCWV and
the middle mat is from My Mind's Eye.
The banner was from my scrap stash.

This card came together super quick
and I really like the clean and simple look to it.

Thanks for checkin' in!!!

FCCB & BBTB2 Weekly Challenges

Hey All!
How is everyone doing after the nice weekend break?
Ready to start a new week and a couple of new challenges?

We've got a challenge underway over at

Challenge #24 Camp Out

This Weeks Sponsor

Pretty Cute Stamps
~This Week's Challenge~
Camp Out
Create a project inspired by the outdoors

To qualify for the prize, be sure to use at least 1 Cricut cut on your project and if it's not obvious, let us know what cartridge you used.

AND over at BBTB2
Bitten by the Bug 2
we have the challenge starting of
Let The SUN Shine In!

Create a project featuring a Sun!

So here is my card I created combining the two:

I used Campin' Critters for the fabulous outdoor scene
and the sun I cut from Accent Essentials.

My papers were all from my scrap stash,
but if I remember right, the blue is from a ColorBok (WalMart) paper pack
and the polka dot is from a DCWV pack.

I found some awesome wooden buttons to use
and some brown ric-rac to create a nice border
between the two b/g mats.

I've popped up the scene on some foam tape,
but the sun is adhered straight on the mat.
There is some great dimension on this card that
the camera just doesn't pick up.

Lastly, the sentiment - it's from CardzTV - and I know
I recently used this same sentiment, but I LOVE it,
so I used it again and it is perfect for this card!

I hope that you will join us over at FCCB & BBTB2
for these challenges!

Thanks for checkin' in!!!

And now for my project....

I LOVE this stamp from Tara's new stamp set
Lil Bit Buggie!
And naturally I pulled out the Walk In My Garden
cartridge for this sentiment.

I cut the flower at 2" with a shadow
and the bee at 2 1/2" with a shadow.
I used some yellow glitter paper for the wings and
added a Glitter Dot from Recollections to the flower.
I popped both of them up on some foam tape.

The hexagon comes from Accent Essentials.

My papers were mostly from my scrap stash,
except for the b/g paper.
It came from Ki's "Growing Garden"
6x6 pack I found at Wal-Mart.
Super cute paper pad!!!

The white ribbon comes from American Crafts.
I trimmed the corners off of the sentiment mat and
used Memento Tuxedo Black Ink for the stamp.

Now...
Next up on the Line Up is the amazing Melissa!!!

Birthday Treat

This is a fun layout I found in the Mojo Monday archieves and I put together a birthday card for a few challenges this week - My Craft Spot "Tasty Treats" and both Paper Playtime and Craftin Desert Divas issued "Anything Goes".  I used the DCWV Sweet Stack for the patterned papers.  The pink glitter paper is from Wal-Mart. I cut the cupcake from Doodlecharms and the cherry from Home Decor.  The scallop and circle are from Accent Essentials.  I also had some flat back pearls from Making Memories that I used - a first for me!  This is another card that I will be giving to my MIL to give to one of the many girls in the family - I could even be getting it back for my birthday :)

Who's Getting Married?

This is the second wedding card I've ever made, the first one was for the last of our friends to get married.  Now I don't know anyone who is getting married.  I will just tuck this away and wait until I have a niece or nephew ready to tie the knot.  I have come upon another challenge blog...I soooo need counseling!  Die Cuttin' Divas is another fun challenge blog that I am going to start playing along with and the challenge this week is Tic Tac Doe.  It's super creative, so go check it out if you haven't already.  I chose the diagonal Black & White, 3 Patterned Papers, and Ribbon.  More Than Favors is also offering up a sketch challenge this week, and this is what I came up with when I put both challenges together.  I used Mini Monograms for the scallop square and Accent Essentials for the fun heart shape (Accent20).  There is some Washi Tape hidden behind the banners that tie the two background papers together.  It was fun creating this card, hope you enjoy!

Thinking of You

I am really loving MojoMonday's!  I love finding inspiration through sketches!  It really helps me think outside my little creative box that I find so limiting at times.  The sketch challenge this week is awesome, please go check it out if you haven't already!  The other challenge I am entering this card into is BBTB2's 3D Rose Challenge.  So I had to improvise on this challenge because you were supposed to use the Art Philosophy cart or any other cart with 3D flowers.  And although I would love to own the Art Philosophy cart, it's a little pricey for me.  If anyone knows if it is available for less than $90 please let me know.  I was only able to find it on the Close to My Heart website for that amount.  Anyway, instead of using a 3D flower image, I made my own using Accent Essentials.  There is a fun flower cut, it's Accent26S on the cart, that I thought could work as a 3D flower.  I cut multiple cuts at different sizes to layer, alternating the petals then rolling them up a bit after I fastened them with brads.  They turned out pretty well I think.  The base card is cut from Life's a Party, the circles and smaller scallop are cut from Mini Monograms.  I inked around the edges with none other than Tim Holtz Tea Dye Distress ink and popped the sentiment up.  I really like how this turned out, I love when what you are working on just kind of comes together so nicely.  Hope you enjoy!

Kidz Kardz Valentine Set

Cardz TV Stamps DT issued a challenge to create a set of 3 3"x3" kid's Valentine's cards.  The Design Team has some amazing projects, and like most of them, I had to use Create-a-Critter.  Such a fun cart, especially for kids!  As I was looking through the images, these insects jumped out at me.  I cut the mats out from Accent Essentials and rounded the corners of my base cards.  I wish I had a set of CardzTV stamps, they are all so great.  At one point I'll be able to get some, just not quite yet.  Anyway, I printed out these fun puns onto white cardstock from my computer and cut them down to little flags/tags.  I inked the edges with Dark Peony ColorBox Chalk Ink from the Rose Petals stack.  Super fun and super cute!

"A Banner Year" Cricut Cardz Challenge

Here is the card I made for the CardzTV Challenge "A Banner Year".  I used the Country Life cartridge for the banner and letters and Accent Essentials for the little swirly images.  I threaded the banner and attached it with two brads in the corners.  This was a different style card than I normally do, but I thought it turned out pretty well.  I have so many people I need to thank in my life that have been willing to help me and my family out at this time, it's the perfect opportunity to use these challenges to create thank you cards.  Hope you enjoy!
