Cut It Up - International Day of Peace

Cut It Up

Challenge #53

My Project:

Happy Friday!

I hope you all survived the week!

We have a fun challenge starting over at Cut It Up today-
International Day of Peace.
Choose a Country you have been to, or one you would like to go to,
and use their colors to create a project.

So I have never been out of the country really.
I have never had a passport,
but it is on my Bucket List to at least get one :)

If I ever do get the chance to travel outside the country,
I would definitely LOVE to go to England!
I would love to do a Jane Austen tour and visit all the
magnificent countrysides to be found there.

Anyway, the colors on the England flag are Red, White, and Blue,
so as I was creating this card it definitely turned patriotic.

I followed the fabulous sketch from Die Cuttin' Divas this week
and used papers from My Mind's Eye
6x6 "Remarkable" Paper Pad.

The oval and shadow were both cut from George and
the star is from Home Decor Solutions cartridge.

I added some enamel dots from Recollections
for the finishing touch.

I am also entering this into Little Scrap Pieces and

Thanks for checkin' in!!!

CardzTV - Queen For A Day

SNIFF SNIFF!!!

CLICK HERE TO ORDER CARDZ TV STAMPS!

I am so sad that my time as a CardzTV designer has come to an end!!!

It was such an honor to be working with Mary
and all the other amazing DT members!

The last challenge that we were given was
to create a Feminine Birthday Card using
3 Pattern Papers

So here is what I came up with:

I followed a recent sketch from Mojo Monday
and really loved how feminine this card turned out.

My papers all come from My Mind's Eye
Lost & Found Market Street 6x6 paper pad.

The crown image is from the Home Decor Solutions cartridge.
I cut the base image out at 1 1/2.
I also cut the blackout and shadow and layered them all together.
The crown is popped up on some foam tape
to stand out from the b/g paper.

My scallop circle is from Mini Monograms and I cut it at 4".
The circle was cut from George at 3" and the
scallop border was cut from Elegant Edges at 1"
I cut the banners freehand.

My ribbon is from Michael's as well as the flowers and flat back pearls.

The sentiment "Queen for a day!" is from
CardzTV's "This N That" stamp set
and the inside sentiment is from "Happy Days"

I just used some scraps left over from the front to create the bottom border.
The scallop is from Elegant Edges, cut at 3/4".

I hope that you will join us for this challenge
and I will sure miss seeing everyone's projects :(

I am going to be linking this up over at
Die Cuttin' Divas - Anything Goes challenge too.

Thanks for checkin' in!!!

Baby's 1st Easter

This Easter will be my baby's 1st so in honor of her, I decided to make a card to put with her Easter Basket.  Of course I will be making a card for my son too, but this card fit nicely into a couple of challenges this week!  BBTB2 "Bring on the Bunnies", My Craft Spot "Sweet Baby", and Mojo Monday provided the sketch with their challenge this week.  This is so girly and sweet, I just love it.  The bunny baby is cut from Simply Charmed, but when I had it put together as the handbook displays, I thought something was missing.  I pulled out Create-A-Critter and used the belly from the rabbit on that cart as well as the bow from the poodle.  It just added that little something.  The scallop flower is cut from Home Decor and the circle and scallop border is from Plantin Schoolbook.  I embossed the base mat with Swiss Dots and inked the yellow mat with Tim Holtz Tea Dye Distress Ink.  The two cuts are popped up using dimensionals.  This was a fun card to make, especially with my sweet baby in mind.

Birthday Treat

This is a fun layout I found in the Mojo Monday archieves and I put together a birthday card for a few challenges this week - My Craft Spot "Tasty Treats" and both Paper Playtime and Craftin Desert Divas issued "Anything Goes".  I used the DCWV Sweet Stack for the patterned papers.  The pink glitter paper is from Wal-Mart. I cut the cupcake from Doodlecharms and the cherry from Home Decor.  The scallop and circle are from Accent Essentials.  I also had some flat back pearls from Making Memories that I used - a first for me!  This is another card that I will be giving to my MIL to give to one of the many girls in the family - I could even be getting it back for my birthday :)

Bye Bye Birdie Challenge #151

I am so excited to post my very first Design Team project!  FCCB's "Bye Bye Birdie" is such a fun challenge!  I love all the different bird images that the Cricut carts have and the fun sentiments that go along with them from so many stamp sets out there, I wish I could have them all.  Anyway, my little bird is cut from the Home Decor cart and I cut him out with some fun glitter paper.  The patterned paper is from DCWV Pocket Full of Posies stack and it is fun and glittery too.  I used Edgeabilities Classic Scallop for the top border and for the sentiment corners I used Fiskars Corner Punch "Sea Pearls".  The sentiment itself is by Studio 112 that I picked up from Joann's in the $1 bin.  The ribbon I got from Michael's out of a $1 bin too.  Love the $1 bins!  I used Wisteria ColorBox Chalk Ink to ink around the edges of the tag and ColorBox Eggplant Pigment Ink for the sentiment.  This was a fun card to make and now I need to find out some fun juicy gossip so I can send this card out :)

Okay, So One More Valentine...

I totally lied, I said I was done with Valentine's cards.  One last one, I promise!!!  I couldn't NOT participate in the Crafty Cardz Challenge, especially since it's the first one after the launch of the new and improved name!  I'm so excited for Mary and her team over at CardzTV!  The challenge was to create a Valentine with a "critter".  I have combined this challenge with Whimsical Wednesday's challenge of 3, 2, 1 (3 of something, 2 of something, and 1 something).  Well, I found a cute Studio G stamp set for $1 at the "Wally" store, as we call it in our home (Wal-Mart), with the Owl pun and I wanted to use it.  I decided not to use the obvious Owl from Create-a-Critter, even though he is soooo cute, and opted for this little guy from Animal Kingdom.  I have had the Animal Kingdom cartridge for over a year and have never used it, I thought now would be a good opportunity to try it out.  The branch is from Home Decor and the cartoche is from Sweethearts.  I embossed the light pink mat with Paper Studio's Curl Ribbon Embossing Folder, which you can't see very well, but it is a very close match to the strips of patterned paper, which by the way there are 3 of.  The owl's 2 eyes are Recollections Rhinestone bling.  And the 1 bow is tied from Jute and stuck on with a glue dot (and can I just say, "How did I make it almost 2 years crafting and card making without ever using glue dots?" I LOVE THEM!).  I inked all the edges with Tim Holtz Tea Dyed Distress Ink and popped the owl and sentiment up on pop dots.  I'm happy with how it turned out, the owl isn't my favorite; he definitely isn't as cute as the Create-A-Critter one, but he works.  Thanks for enduring this post, if you got through it, so many run-on sentences my English professor would scold me!  Happy Valentine's Day!!!

Decorate to Celebrate!

Okay, so I am venturing out a little on my blog.  I have mainly used my blog for cards, but that's not all that I do.  I enjoy working on home decor projects and decorations as well.  So when I discovered the Decorate to Celebrate blog, I thought I would give it a shot. (Thanks Arin!)  The current challenge is to create a decoration with, of course, a Valentine/Love theme.  The wood heart I purchased from Oh My Crafts!  They have a website, but I live close enough to their warehouse that I picked it up there.  I also got the paper from the warehouse, I believe it is retired paper from Making Memories.  Of course, I used Mod Podge to adhere the paper.  I used the Home Decor cartridge to cut out "Adore".  A few pieces of Recollections bling, ColorBox Chalk Ink around the edges, and Studio G ribbon.  The acrylic paint is Craft Smart Chocolate Brown.  I sure hope this qualifies for the challenge, I had fun making it and it is the centerpiece on my table.

Always Crafting Challenge

The Whimsical Wednesday Challenge from Always Crafting http://www.alwayscrafting.com is a color challenge. The colors were picked from a picture posted on the blog. The colors that spoke to me were the green, yellow, and red/orange colors. It was a very cozy picture, featuring a room you could just cuddle up in a blanket and read for hours. Anyway, this card is what I thought up based on the colors. It's a cute little card and the birds/branch are from Home Decor.

Scrappy Mom's Sweethearts Challenge

This challenge was to use an image from the Sweetheart's cart. Unfortunately, that is another cart I do not own yet, but is on my wish list. Instead I used the Home Decor cart for the heart and "love". If I had the cuttlebug (also on the wish list), I would have embossed something fun on the black mat. My wish list is quite long as you can imagine, I know that as time goes on I will acquire things here and there, but until then, I will definitely try and "make it work" (as Tim Gunn would say).

Fantabulous Cricut Challenge

I came across another blog that does challenges, which I find to be a lot of fun. Anyway, it is fantabulouscricut.blogspot.com and the challenge was to create something with a "sweet" theme. This is what I came up with. I LOVE this cupcake from the Home Decor cart.

I finished this card up today, it turned out better that I thought. It took me a while to decide what I was doing with it. I used the Home Decor cart for the flowery scallop.

I needed to make a card for a friend who just had a baby and a friend who has helped me out a bunch the last few months. These cards turned out great too. The images are from the Home Decor cartridge.
