Craftin' Desert Divas Fun Fold Grad Card

Fun Folds Linky Party

Sponsors:

Miriams Crafting Supplies: $5 Credit (not on ATG or Shipping)

Close To My Heart
Lucy Kelleher "Close to My Heart": $10 G.C. (Only in U.S.)

My Project:
For this super fun linky party, I created a Tri-Shutter Card.
If you have never made one of these, you have to try it out!
There are some awesome tutorials on YouTube
on how to do these cards :)

FCCB and BBTB2 have new challenges stating today too.
Over at FCCB (see below for sponsor info) we want to see
Graduation projects
and BBTB2 we want you to use
a "car" cut on your projects.

I combined all of them into this fun Graduation card.
I used Wrap It Up for the diploma
and Beep Beep for the convertible car.
The "GRAD" and "2014" are both cut from Plantin Schoolbook.
My papers were all in my scrap stash,
this style of card is perfect to use up scraps :)

All my stamps are from Craftin' Desert Divas.
The "Congrats" and "Wish Big" come from Simply Said
and the "Away we go" comes from Destination Fun.
I did some alteration to that stamp by crossing out "we"
and adding "you" above it with a black gel pen.
I thought it was fitting for this card :)

The enamel dots are from Michael's

This is how it looks folded up :)

I hope you will join us for these fun challenges starting today!

Decorate To Celebrate - Teacher Appreciation!

Happy Wednesday!!!
Hope this week is going well for everyone!

we have another challenge starting!
The school year is coming to a close and we want to see
how you show your appreciation for all those teachers out there!
My son is just finishing up preschool,
so I wanted to make a treat box
for his teacher, who has done wonders for him :)

Here it is - all angles and the back...

I used Tags, Bags, Boxes and More for the Crayon Box...
I thought that was appropriate :)
I cut it out at 7".
My paper is from DCWV and my twine is from American Crafts.
The apple is cut from Plantin Schoolbook
and this is where I will stamp a fun sentiment or put her name,
I just haven't decided yet...
I think I will know what to do
once I figure out what to put IN the box :)

I hope that you will join us for this challenge and help to inspire the rest of us!!!

Thanks for checkin' in!!!

FCCB Challenge #180 - Fall Is In The Air

This week over at FCCB we have an awesome challenge all about Fall!!!  We want to see your projects that have to do with "Fall is in the Air".  I don't know about you, but when October hits, I get so antsy to do a TON of projects for the rest of the year for fall and all the holidays.  For this challenge I wanted to do something a little different and decided to try out a Double Side Step card.  I looked on YouTube for a tutorial and found a bunch! I just picked one and gave it a go.  I knew I wanted to use the cute scarecrows from Simply Charmed and use my Peachy Keen Stamps for their faces, but that was about it.  Then I remembered on "Just Because" Cards there is a corn stalk image and it all came together!  So my scarecrows are cut at 4", I used Everyday Character Faces from PKS to make the cute faces, some flat back smooth pearls for their overall buttons, and I found some buttons in my stash for their hats.  The back row of corn stalks are cut at 7" and the rest of them are cut at 7 1/2".  I ran the yellow corn through the Swiss Dots Cuttlebug embossing folder and cut some yellow grass from Plantin Schoolbook at 3/4 inch.  The "happy fall" phrase is also from Simply Charmed.  My patterned paper is from All Seasons II 12x12 pack from Hobby Lobby.  I think it turned out pretty cute and it works great as a home decor piece too!  I hope you are able to join us this week at FCCB and link up your projects!!!

Here are the dimensions for the Double Side Step: Paper 7 1/2 x 8 1/2; With the 7 1/2" side at the top of your cutting board, set paper at the 2" mark then cut between 2 1/8" and 7 1/2".  Flip paper over and do the same thing.  Then score between cut lines at 2 1/8", 5 3/8", and 7 1/2".  Score the length of the card at 4 1/4".  I hope that makes sense!!!

Back to School to Shape It Up...

Cricut, Wrap It Up, Shape Cards, Back to School

So here is another fun shape card from Wrap It Up, and yes, it is another back to school project! But this time I wanted to make a project for someone a little more mature and not in elementary school per se. So this card could be given to a high schooler or even someone going to college. I really like the muted colors of this card and the books shape is just fun. I cut this card at 5 1/2 inches and instead of using the layer cut for the card, I cut the layers out for the actual image, not the card function key. I used the same size and it cut the perfect size to match. Hopefully that makes sense. I used Plantin Schoolbook for the letters of the subjects and the little apples on the inside. I just cut some white card stock for the mats inside and used my new pair of Paper Studio Wavy Edge "Cloud" scissors from Hobby Lobby that I picked up for a buck! I'm going to be entering this card into BBTB2's challenge of shaped cards and Exploring Cricut's challenge of back to school. Thanks for stopping by and taking a look at my project!

Happy Kindergarten!

Cricut, Wrap It Up, Schoolhouse Box, Plantin Schoolbook

Cricut, Wrap It Up, Schoolhouse Box, Plantin Schoolbook
I am so excited to be linking up to a challenge over at Decorate to Celebrate! It's been WAY too long since I have.  The challenge is to create Back To School and Classroom Favors for a party or celebration.  Well, my little guy is seeing all of his friends start kindergarten and because he has a late birthday won't start until next year, but he does start preschool next week, so that's GREAT!  He wanted to make some cookies today and bring them to his friend and say "Happy Kindergarten" to him.  I thought it was a perfect opportunity to have a craft day with him too.  He picked out what he wanted to make, I just put it together.  So even though this isn't for a party, per se, it is a Back To School favor.  The schoolhouse box comes from the Wrap It Up Cartridge, the ABC/123 comes from Plantin Schoolbook, along with the apple tag.  I used patterned paper from DCWV Grade School pack.  It turned out really cute, and my son was super proud and excited to give it to his friend, he even wrote his name on the back of the tag - and that made me super proud!

Happy Father's Day FCCB Challenge #164

This week over at FCCB, we are honoring our father's with a fun challenge.  I wanted to try a different style of card for this challenge and I watched a bunch of videos on YouTube and decided on the side step.  I thought it would be fun to use this cute bear golfer and set the green in the back.  Both of these cuts are from Create-A-Critter 2.  The "rough" is cut from Plantin Schoolbook.  My dad is not a golfer, nor my husband so I don't know exactly why I made this other than that it is a pretty cute card.  Hope you will join us this week with our challenge!!!

Spring is in the Air - FCCB Challenge #153

Are you ready for another challenge over at FCCB?  The Design Team has come up with some amazing inspiration for you to play along with us for the "Spring is in the Air" challenge.  All you need to do is use a kite or a balloon on your project.  I am so anxious for spring to get here, we had a taste of it last week, but now it's cold again - BOOOO!  I need WARMTH!  Anyway, this is what I came up with for the challenge - "let's go fly a kite..." The kite is cut from Designer's Calendar, and I popped it up with some dimensionals.  I tied baker's twine for the bows on the tail.  The clouds and flowers are cut from April Showers, the grass is cut from Plantin Schoolbook.  I used dimensionals on the clouds and the first two layers of the grass hoping to get a better sense of depth.  The sentiment was just printed out on my computer, I didn't have an actual stamp with that saying.  I hope Spring gets here soon :)

Baby's 1st Easter

This Easter will be my baby's 1st so in honor of her, I decided to make a card to put with her Easter Basket.  Of course I will be making a card for my son too, but this card fit nicely into a couple of challenges this week!  BBTB2 "Bring on the Bunnies", My Craft Spot "Sweet Baby", and Mojo Monday provided the sketch with their challenge this week.  This is so girly and sweet, I just love it.  The bunny baby is cut from Simply Charmed, but when I had it put together as the handbook displays, I thought something was missing.  I pulled out Create-A-Critter and used the belly from the rabbit on that cart as well as the bow from the poodle.  It just added that little something.  The scallop flower is cut from Home Decor and the circle and scallop border is from Plantin Schoolbook.  I embossed the base mat with Swiss Dots and inked the yellow mat with Tim Holtz Tea Dye Distress Ink.  The two cuts are popped up using dimensionals.  This was a fun card to make, especially with my sweet baby in mind.

Got Eggs?

Every year I host the "Coloring of the Eggs" for my nieces, nephews, and now my own kids.  It's something I love to do, and then my sister and I hide the eggs on Easter Sunday in my our parent's backyard for the kids to go hunt.  It's a tradition I don't intend to stop anytime soon.  LOVE Easter!  Anyway, I started making invitations for it and this is the invite for this year.  It's not a card, just a one sided decorated mat with the back having the party info.  I'm kind of loving how cute it is.  I hope that my brother's family gets a kick out of it too.  I'm entering this into Whimsical Design's "Think Spring" and My Creative Time "Spring".  The cute bunny is from Create A Critter, as well as his basket.  The grass is cut from Plantin Schoolbook as well as the "got eggs?"  The paper is from Recollections "All Seasons" pack.  Simple but cute.
