My base pink paper is from Echo Park.
The green overlay paper is from DCWV.
The papers I used for the owl and saying were just
in my scrap stash.
I think this is a fun friendship card :)

Happy Friday!!!

What a week! How's yours been?

Well, in honor of April Fool's Day today
Cut It Up wants to see funny projects
for the new challenge:
Cut It Up

Include a Joke or Riddle

Sponsor:
$20 Gift Certificate

My Project:

So I have to admit this card is not new,
I made it 3 years ago, but it is perfect for April Fool's
AND it is one of my most favorite cards I have made :)

So my card isn't necessarily a "Joke" or "Riddle",
but it is an unexpected answer from the old adage of
"when life gives you lemons"

But it is definitely my Motto...
Drum Roll Please.....

Ha, bet you didn't see that comin' ;)
LOVE IT!!!

Anyway, I used Simply Charmed for the lemon/limes.
I also used Just Because Cards for the glass image;
I used vellum to create a shinier effect.
The b/g papers are from Echo Park and DCWV.
I inked up the edges with some Tim Holtz Tea Dye Distress Ink
and used ribbon from American Crafts.
I printed the phrases out from my computer.

If you love Diet Coke as much as I do
and haven't tried limes with it...
I highly recommend it,
I has made my life much happier :)

Thanks for checkin' in!!!

Happy Friday All!!!

I am so looking forward to this weekend to start,

Well, we have another challenge starting over at Cut It Up
and the most talented Cindy has chosen a super fun theme!
Cut It Up

Challenge #52
Grandparent's Day

Our Sponsors:
$20 Coupon Code

Die-Version
$15 Gift Certificate

My Project:

What a fun day to honor our grandparents and parents!
I actually don't have any grandparents left, they have all passed on,
but my kids have my parents and my husband's mom to wish
a Happy Grandparent's Day to!

So this is the little gift box I decided to make my MIL to
thank her for being such an AMAZING Grandma to my littles!
My FIL passed away before my kids were born, but
I still wanted to honor him with this box, too.

I decided to use the family tree and stencil phrase
"Families are Forever"
from the "Just Because" Cards cartridge.
Our family knows that we will see my FIL again,
and we truly believe that families can be together forever,
so I thought this would be a perfect way to include my FIL in this day.

The box comes from Life's A Party and I cut it out at 2 3/4".
All the paper comes from Close To My Heart, as well as
the embellishments (Skylark collection), except for the
rhinestones, they came from Michael's.

This box will be filled with Dark Chocolate
(my MIL's favorite)

I hope that you will join us over at Cut It Up
and show us how you celebrate
Grandparent's Day!

Thanks for checkin' in!!!

BBTB2 - BEE-utiful Summer

Bitten by the Bug 2
Happy Monday!!!

Hope you all had a wonderful weekend!

Today over at BBTB2 we are starting
a new challenge all about BEES!!!

There are so many cute bee images on
so many fun cartridges,
it was tough to decide which one to use!

I haven't used the bee on the
"Just Because" Cards cartridge,
so that's what I chose!

My paper comes from Prima Marketing "Doodle Deux"
that I picked up from Hobby Lobby.
I used vellum for the wings of the bee and popped
the image up on foam tape.

I cut the scallop circle from Mini Monograms
and the circle from George.

The enamel dots are from Recollection's (Michael's)
and the sentiment comes from Craftin' Desert Divas
newest stamp set Lil Bit Buggie.

I even have a video to show how it all came together!

I am also entering this into Little Scrap Pieces.

Thanks for checkin' in!!!

Sketch is from Card Positioning Systems

This Weeks Sponsor:
Be Wild and Free Stamp Set

To qualify for the prize, be sure to use at least one Cricut cut on your project and if it's not obvious, let us know what cartridge you used.

My Project:

So my MIL asked me the other day to start working on some more birthday cards for her to give out to family throughout the year...I LOVE doing this for her, so of course I got started right away!  I was super excited to be able to use a paper pack I got for Christmas from Santa too - Carta Bella's Giddy Up! pack is so fun!  I have a niece that is totally into riding horses and so I made this card with her in mind for my MIL to give to her for her birthday in May.  That was long-winded :)

Anyway, I used Summer Celebrations for the lasso/rope (3") and just cut off the Yee Ha! that comes with it. I did cut the shift phrase at 2" for the YeeHa! in the bottom corner.  I also used "Just Because" Cards for the boot and cut it out on flip at 2 1/2".  The three rhinestones are from Michael's and were the perfect addition for this cowgirl card.  The inside of the card was pretty simple, just a white cardstock mat with the sentiment stamped in the top corner - the sentiment comes from a Fiskar's set.  I used a piece of the pattern paper from the front to dress up the bottom and cut the saddle from the Toy Story cartridge at 2".

I hope my MIL will use this card for my niece because I think it turned out super cute!!!

And I hope you will join us in the fun sketch challenge going on over at FCCB this week!!!

I'm also entering this card into CardzTV Birthday challenge.

Thanks for checkin' in!!!

HIMCR Challenge #134
Something For/About A Loved One

Template Dreams
Template Dreams - $5 Gift Card

My Project:

Hello!!! How is everyone's Saturday going? I am hoping to have a very productive one :) But this week over at HIMCR we have a challenge that might take you away from being productive outside the craft room!  We want you to create a card or project for or about someone you love.  The DT had the opportunity to choose from some of the Template Dreams kits for this challenge and I just had to work with the "Nuts For You" kit! SO CUTE!!! The squirrel is so stinkin' adorable and the papers and embellishments are to die for!  So this is the card I came up with.  I am not good at, nor have patience for, "fussy cutting", so I kept it to a minimum with this card.  I did my best around the flowers and popped them up on some foam tape, but the squirrel, yeah, she got to stay in a straight edge square :)  I decided to cut the "nuts about you" stencil from "Just Because" Cards on my Cricut, and popped that up on some foam tape as well.  I think it turned out pretty cute and I am thinking I will give this one to my husband for Valentine's Day, along with a jar of some type of nut.  He would like that :)  Anyway, I hope you are able to join us for this challenge and be sure to check out the DT's projects - they are always amazing!!!

Thanks for checkin' in!!!

FCCB Challenge #180 - Fall Is In The Air

This week over at FCCB we have an awesome challenge all about Fall!!!  We want to see your projects that have to do with "Fall is in the Air".  I don't know about you, but when October hits, I get so antsy to do a TON of projects for the rest of the year for fall and all the holidays.  For this challenge I wanted to do something a little different and decided to try out a Double Side Step card.  I looked on YouTube for a tutorial and found a bunch! I just picked one and gave it a go.  I knew I wanted to use the cute scarecrows from Simply Charmed and use my Peachy Keen Stamps for their faces, but that was about it.  Then I remembered on "Just Because" Cards there is a corn stalk image and it all came together!  So my scarecrows are cut at 4", I used Everyday Character Faces from PKS to make the cute faces, some flat back smooth pearls for their overall buttons, and I found some buttons in my stash for their hats.  The back row of corn stalks are cut at 7" and the rest of them are cut at 7 1/2".  I ran the yellow corn through the Swiss Dots Cuttlebug embossing folder and cut some yellow grass from Plantin Schoolbook at 3/4 inch.  The "happy fall" phrase is also from Simply Charmed.  My patterned paper is from All Seasons II 12x12 pack from Hobby Lobby.  I think it turned out pretty cute and it works great as a home decor piece too!  I hope you are able to join us this week at FCCB and link up your projects!!!

Here are the dimensions for the Double Side Step: Paper 7 1/2 x 8 1/2; With the 7 1/2" side at the top of your cutting board, set paper at the 2" mark then cut between 2 1/8" and 7 1/2".  Flip paper over and do the same thing.  Then score between cut lines at 2 1/8", 5 3/8", and 7 1/2".  Score the length of the card at 4 1/4".  I hope that makes sense!!!

Many More Miles...

Cricut, Just Because Cards, Old Timer Truck

Oh, the dreaded Masculine Birthday Card...Just Kidding! But seriously, why are they so much harder to make? Luckily, I had an awesome 6x6 paper pack from Echo Park "This & That Charming" that has some awesome masculine papers in it.  Just Because Cards cartridge has the awesome old timer truck and it just all came together very nicely.  I printed the sentiment from my computer just on some white cardstock and thought it was a perfect saying.  The truck is popped up with some foam tape and I tied some hemp twine around the bottom, to serve as sort of a "dirt road".  I am so happy with how everything came together and am excited to give this to my MIL to give to one of her brothers.  I will be entering this card into the HIMCR,  Little Scrap Pieces, and Craftin' Desert Divas challenges.

Thanks A Melon

Cricut Just Because Cards Sweet Treats Cartridge
I was excited to make a tag this week for Paper Playtime's challenge, I don't make too many and I will be able to use this to give to some friends of ours for a BBQ they are hosting at the end of the month.  I like how there is plenty of room on the back to write a little note.  I think it would be cute to present this with a actual watermelon when we show up.  I used Just Because Cards for the slice of melon and stencil, and Sweet Treats for the tag and topper.  I used some paper from My Mind's Eye Lost & Found 6x6 pack and inked around all the edges with Tim Holtz Tea Dye Distress ink.  I am also entering this into Craftin' Desert Diva's challenge of "Summer" and a challenge blog that I just found (don't know why it has taken me this long to find) Hiding In My Craft Room; the challenge there is "Red and Green".  Thanks A Melon for stoppin' by!

FCCB Challenge #162 Memorial Day

Another fabulous challenge has begun over at FCCB.  This week we are celebrating Memorial Day, so head on over and link up your project.  My card is probably off the mark a little with the traditional Memorial Day cards, but it fits perfectly with how I view Memorial Day.  For as long as I can remember, my dad's side of the family would gather together at our ancestors' gravesites at our local cemetaries and talk about family history.  This card is representative of those memories.  I also firmly believe that families are forever and that there is life beyond our journey here on this earth.  I know I will see my grandparents and ancestors again.  Anyway, I just love all the flowers that adorn the graves and how beautiful the cemetaries are on Memorial Day, so this is the card I came up with.  I used "Just Because" Cards for the mats, tree, and stencil saying.  I used SongBird for the flowers and blinged them up with some rhinestones.  Hope you join us this week and I can't wait to see your projects!

Happy April Fool's! FCCB Cricut Crawl

Hopefully you have found yourself here after crawling along the FCCB April Fool's Cricut Crawl!  If you haven't checked out the DT's fantastically fun April Fool's projects, you should head on over there to start it!  So, my little card isn't a "joke", but it is an unexpected response from the usual addage of "when life gives you lemons".  And this is totally my philosophy as of right now in my life.  I know soda is horrible for you health wise, but to me it is my sanity on this crazy cancer rollercoaster my little family is on.  I LOVE Diet Coke with Lime, or as it is known in my house DCL.  When I was looking through my new cartridge Just Because Cards I was inspired to create this card from the "Lemons into Lemonade" phrase/cut and cut the glass image out of vellum paper.  I used the lemon cut from Simply Charmed for my lemons and limes.  The colorful diamond paper is from Echo Park's This and That Graceful 6x6 pack.  The green and white is from DCWV Nana's Kitchen mat stack.  The yellow and white polka dot paper on the lemons is from a Wal-Mart paper pack.  I inked around the edges of my sentiments, lemons, and base card with Tim Holtz Tea Dye Distress Ink and popped up the lemons and sentiment on the front with some dimensionals.  I hope you are having fun on the crawl, and keep at it, there are still some fabulous projects ahead!
